Second opinion

If another doctor has suggested a BPH treatment and you would like a review before making a decision, you are welcome to ask Dr Kooner's rooms to look at your flow results, ultrasound and letters. A formal GP or specialist referral is usually required for a new Medicare-supported consultation.

What to send before the appointment

  • Referral letter addressed to Dr Kooner.
  • Recent flow study (uroflowmetry) report.
  • Prostate ultrasound or MRI report and images (CD, electronic link or report numbers).
  • Urine culture and PSA results if available.
  • A short summary of BPH medications tried so far.

What to expect in the consultation

  • A review of your symptoms, flow and imaging.
  • A discussion of all reasonable options for your prostate size and anatomy - not only iTind.
  • A realistic summary of what each option is likely to achieve, and what it does not do.
  • Time to ask questions before committing to a plan.
Email is not for emergencies. If you have fever with obstructed urination, inability to pass urine, heavy bleeding or severe pain, call 000 or attend an emergency department.
